COPA is unique

Important attention is now being paid to the impact of violence against children and between children (bullying, for example) and the significance of prevention and early intervention to ensure the healthy emotional, psychological and intellectual development of children. Preventing violence against children — which results in significant consequences for victims and their families — is now recognized as pivotal to this endeavour.

COPA is Ontario’s only provincial Francophone (child and youth) assault prevention education training and consultation centre. Recently, in response to increasing demand in the province, COPA has agreed to deliver programs and services in English (through Strategies for Change.) The organization remains Francophone however. 

COPA is one-of-a-kind, filling two essential and important gaps in provincial social services and education and in the Francophone sector:

• providing much-sought after and regionally appropriate French-language resources and advocacy for these resources, and
• fostering the development and dissemination of unique assault prevention resources for children and youth.
